Perinatal Asphyxia is one of the top three causes of infant mortality in developing countries, resulting to the death of about 1.2 million newborns every year. At its early stages, the presence of asphyxia cannot be conclusively determined visually or via physical examination, but by medical diagnosis. In resource-poor settings, where skilled attendance at birth is a luxury, most cases only get detected when the damaging consequences begin to manifest or worse still, after death of the affected infant. Environment And Energy

After many months of research, product development and strategy, the Fisher Foundation has recently received a $65,000 seed grant from one of its development partners (confidential) to test the viability of its portable Biogas technology for rural electrification and waste management. This project if successful, will see to the removal from the environment of 10,000tons of organic waste and generation of about 50KW of electricity and employment of 20 persons within its first year of operation in rural community of Anambra State, Nigeria. This project is currently underway in conjunction with Bio-grade Technologies – a technical partner.

For over 2 years, the Fisher Foundation has continuously broken new grounds and achieved tremendous results through its practical approach to entrepreneurship in its Making Entrepreneur project. In this project, we focus on not-only providing target entrepreneurial and skill training, but also exposing youths to grant opportunities and internships which ultimately empowering them to take charge of their future.  Through this program our beneficiaries have received over $100,000 in grants and dozens of them have gone ahead to set up their own small and medium scale businesses, in turn empowering their communities.
