Fisher Foundation's Research Head Receives Fellowship | Blog

The IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT) has on this day 16th May, 2014, awarded Charles Onu a SIGHT Fellowship to take part in International Humanitarian Technology Conference (IHTC) 2014.

Charles is the head of research and technological development at Fisher Foundation for Sustainable Development in Africa. The fellowship offer - made by Holly Schneider Brown, Staff Lead of the SIGHT Steering Committee - is designed to cover funding of up to $750 to enable Charles and his team present at IHTC 2014, their work on "Harnessing Infant Cry for swift, cost-effective Diagnosis of Perinatal Asphyxia in low-resource settings."

Charles is grateful for the fellowship as he believes that "the opportunity will enable us create networks and potentially establish a North-South partnerships that could accelerate progress towards our objective of reducing mortality of newborns in Africa."
